A Lovely Little Sunday

Sunday felt like the first real sign that spring had finally arrived.

After weeks of gray skies and cold mornings, the sun finally showed up in full force, and my husband and I decided it was too nice of a day to stay inside. We grabbed the dogs, tossed their leashes in the car, and headed out with no real plan other than to enjoy the day together. Sometimes those are the best kinds of days—the ones that unfold slowly, one small moment at a time.

Our first stop was brunch at First Watch. It was warm enough to sit outside, which already felt like a small victory after the long stretch of winter. The patio buzzed with quiet conversation, clinking glasses, and that easy Sunday morning energy that makes you want to linger a little longer.

We ordered mimosas, of course. It’s practically a brunch requirement! The sun was warm on our faces, and for a while we just sat there enjoying the simple pleasure of being outside again. No jackets, no rushing, no checking the weather every five minutes to see if it was going to snow again. Just sunshine, good food, and an easy morning together.

After brunch, we packed the dogs back into the car and made our way to Centennial Park for a walk. The park was alive in that early-spring kind of way. Families pushing strollers, couples walking hand in hand, runners making their loops around the paths—everyone seemed happy just to be outside again.

Our dogs were especially interested in the pond. The ducks and geese were out in full force, gliding across the water and gathering near the edge. Naturally, our dogs found this absolutely fascinating. They stood there watching with intense curiosity, ears perked and tails wagging, convinced that if they just stared long enough they might figure out what those strange feathered creatures were up to!

We wandered along the paths for a while, with nowhere else to be and no reason to rush. The trees are just starting to wake up again, tiny hints of green appearing where bare branches had been for months. There’s something about that first wave of spring that feels hopeful—like the whole world is slowly shaking off winter and remembering how to be alive again.

Before heading home, we made one last stop at Paris Baguette. This has become one of my favorite little treats in the city. The glass cases are filled with rows of delicate pastries, each one somehow prettier than the last. Choosing just one always feels like the hardest decision of the day!

I ordered my favorite French pastry, and we took our time enjoying it. Sweet, flaky layers, good coffee, and that quiet end-of-the-day feeling where everything slows down again. It was the perfect way to close out such a lovely afternoon.

It wasn’t a big adventure. No packed schedule or elaborate plans.

Just brunch in the sunshine, a walk through the park, curious dogs watching ducks, and something sweet to finish the day.

And honestly? Those ordinary little moments are often the loveliest ones of all! ✨
