The Simple Pleasures We Forget to Enjoy

You know the saying to stop and smell the roses? Sometimes, it’s just as important to stop and feel the breeze!

There are moments that don’t ask for your attention. They just happen, whether you notice them or not.

Today, after a boxing class that left me completely drained in the best way, (shout out Title Boxing Franklin) I stepped outside without really thinking about it. My body was tired, my breathing still uneven, the kind of exhaustion that usually sends me straight to my car, already moving on to the next thing in my day.

But then I felt it!

A soft, cool breeze, one of those early spring ones that still carries a hint of winter, but promises something warmer ahead. It wasn’t strong. It didn’t interrupt anything. It just existed.

And for a second, I stopped.

Just enough to notice how good it felt against my skin. Enough to take a deeper breath. Enough to realize how rare it is for me to pause like that.

Nothing about the moment was remarkable on paper. I had just finished a workout. I was standing in a parking lot. There was no big realization waiting for me, no lesson neatly wrapped up and ready to share.

But it felt good.

And I think that’s the point.

I carried that feeling with me on the drive home, windows down, letting that same breeze fill the car. No music, no rush, just the sound of the road and the air moving through. It felt simple in a way that’s hard to come by.

These are the moments we often overlook.

The simple ones. The quiet ones. The ones that don’t look like much from the outside, but feel like everything when you actually let yourself be in them.

We spend so much time chasing the big moments, the milestones, the breakthroughs, the things that feel like they should matter. But life isn’t mostly made up of those.

It’s this.

A breeze on warm skin.

A deep breath after pushing your body.

A quiet drive with the windows down.

A second where nothing is required of you.

Simple pleasures that are easy to miss if you’re always in a hurry to get somewhere else.

I didn’t do anything to earn that moment. I didn’t plan for it. I just happened to be there, long enough to feel it.

I’m starting to think that enjoying life isn’t about finding more time or waiting for something bigger.

It’s about noticing what’s already right in front of you.

Nothing big.

Nothing impressive.

Just a cool spring breeze, and a reminder to slow down and enjoy it.
